We will play by the USA Indoor VB rules with the following exceptions/clarifications:
1 . Each match will consist of 3 games to 21 rally/point per play scoring. No cap on any game.
2. Game time is forfeit time for the first game. The match will be forfeited 10 minutes after game 1 start time.
3. You may play with 3 players but no less than 3.
4. If you’re team does not have it’s full complement of players, you may pick up someone to add to your team for that night within the following guidelines.
a) All persons (except for one-time “floaters”) that play must pay the $10.00 entry fee
b) If you have more than 4 persons on your roster, you should try to get someone from your roster first.
c) There are a number of players who did not get on a team. You can pick a player from this list of “floaters” to play at any time. “Floaters” that play more than twice must pay the entry fee.
d) You may pick up a person from another team as long as that person is designated as the floater on the roster. (League director will determine)
5. There will be a single elimination tournament at the end of the season (5 weeks). All teams will be eligible for the tournament. Seedings will be determined by the win/loss record. The number of games won/lost will determine the standings not matches won/lost.
6. Ties will be broken first by head to head wins/losses, 2nd by head to head point differential and 3rd by total point differential all based on the equal number of times you faced each opponent.
7. The tournament format will be one match, best 2 out of 3 games. (All games played to 21 w/ no cap just as in league play) .
8. Players will be expected to make honor calls on themselves just as in an outdoor tournament however, the reffing team can and should call any violations such as foot faults, ball handling errors (bad hands, lifts etc.) and center line violations as well as keep score.
9. Please note the time that your team referee's and be on time to referee your match. You should have all 4 members to referee, one to keep score and follow the ball, one to watch net play, center line violations to help with fine calls and two line judges (as I'm sure you know, the colored lines are difficult to see.)
10. There will be no rotational faults (you can be in any position on the court at the time of service), however the service order will remain the same throughout the game.
11. All 4 players are legal attackers/Blockers.
12. All offspeed shots must be heal or roll shots, pokes/knuckles etc. No directed open hand or fingertip dinks. (Just as in outdoor). NO power dinks. A mistimed quick attack such as a paintbrush is allowed as long as the intent was to attack and not direct the ball. Handsets over the net ARE allowed providing the hands are clean.
13. The first team contact of the ball may be double hit but not lifted, (Indoor rule). Hard driven (spiked) balls may be momentarily lifted such as in a setting or "gator" technique but may not come to rest. (just as in outdoor)
14. There will be no contact allowed of a ball that is in the net by an opposing player by the hand, arm or head regardless of intent unless the ball is driven into the opposing players body. (MY Rule)
15. The league director reserves the right to modify any rules written or unwritten based on the good of the league.
